Best KOA Campground in Colorado?

Fort Collins Lakside KOA

We recently visited Lakeside KOA located in Fort Collins, Colorado. This KOA is amazing for many reasons. First of all, it’s located at the base of the Rocky Mountains in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado.

Options for camping sites include tent sites and RV sites with full hookups. And there are also options for cabins if RV’ing or tent camping isn’t your thing. Just book one of the many cabins at the campground.

The staff here is super friendly! There are so many activities available (on the weekends) during the summer months. Some of the activities have an extra fee but are very reasonably priced ($2 for a HUGE ice cream sundae at the ice cream social is what I call a deal!)

Activities Galore at this Colorado KOA

The pedal carts are FREE to use to ride around the campground. Also, bumper boats and paddle boats are FREE to use! Not only do they have activities galore, but they are also a KOA resort which means you can easily spend your whole vacation on the KOA grounds and never run out of fun stuff to do.

The option to order pizza for lunch or dinner is available during the weekends and evenings (summer months). Breakfast can be purchased on the weekends as well.

President’s Award Winner!

After spending a long weekend here, it’s very easy to see why the President’s Award was won by this KOA. The grounds are very well kept, recycling is available and there are several areas to drop trash in the dumpsters.

We were able to do most of the activities as a family together. Taking a bike ride on the trail around the lake was a favorite activity during our stay. The paddle boats are a super fun way to get some extra exercise! Do you know how much work paddle boats are? Let me just tell you the answer – a lot of work! The lake is fairly large and clear in a lot of areas. You can observe fish and there is even a resident muskrat!

Do the kids have excess energy after all of that ice cream? Go jump on the jumping pillow or play on the inflatables. The playground is one of the largest playgrounds you’ll find anywhere. Have them go run off some of that energy! (This is perfect for those travel days when the kids just need to RUN!)
