Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is one of our favorite places to visit. The ocean, the palm trees, the warm weather, what’s not to love?
Camping at Myrtle Beach can get a little pricy – most the RV/Camping resorts that are in the beach range from $150/night to over $300 night for an RV campsite or even a tent campsite. This is why we LOVE Myrtle Beach State Park. The campsites range from $58 for a tent site or $72 for an RV site. The campground is within walking distance to the beach (we took our wagon loaded up with the kid’s boogie boards, beach chairs, etc. and walked to the beach each day).
Myrtle Beach State Park
We have visited this State Park twice now because we love the area but also the campground it so amazing. You really feel like you are in nature. There are so many trees, grasses, etc, and the beach is only a short walk. The campground has many sites for both RV’s, tents, and travel trailers. There are bathhouses, showers, and laundry facilities. There is also the option for nature activities provided by the park ranger staff.
This South Carolina State Park really is a hidden gem. One word of advice is to book early. The campsites in the summer fill up fast so if you are wanting to visit during the summer months, you will want to make a reservation well in advance.
The beach at Myrtle Beach State Park is perfect for beachcombing. We found many pieces of sea glass and seashells. While many people visit Myrtle Beach each year, the beach does not feel crowed when at the State Park. There is plenty of room to set up your beach chairs, umbrella and enjoy some swimming, boogie boarding, and more. The waves are not too rough and the staff will put up flags if the surf is rough or if there are rip currents.
Whether you want to just relax, or enjoy some great swimming and water time, Myrtle Beach State Park, South Carolina is a great place to put on your list of places to go and visit.

Hilton Head, South Carolina
We visited Hilton Head, South Carolina while we were on the East Coast. We can now check this off our list of places we’ve been, however, we can not say it’s on our favorites list.
The traffic on the island was fairly heavy while we were there. We did visit during the summer on a Saturday, so we do realize that being there on a weekend probably made a difference in regards to the crowds.
The beach walkway down to the beach was nice. There was a rubber carpet/mat most of the way to get down to the beach which helped in pulling a wagon through the sand.
We visited a great Pizza Resturant during our visit. The Harbour Town Light House on Hilton Head Island is an interesting place and for a small fee, you can climb the stairs to the top of the lighthouse. The beach area around the lighthouse is ripe with different kinds of seashells which make for some fun shelling.
South Carolina is such a beautiful place – If you are living the RV life, we highly recommend putting this on your list of places to go stay!
