We’ve recently discovered a little gadget that has now become a must-have for us when it comes to RV living and RV Temperature monitoring – the best part? It was under $40!
Why an RV Temperature Monitor?
We travel with 1 very large dog and 2 cats. And because we travel with pets we obviously need to make sure our pets are ok when we are away from our Rig. We’re not the “hang out at the campground” type of travel family. Rather, we enjoy getting out and exploring. So that means a lot of the time we have our pets in our Rig while we are away.
This means we need to have something to be able to monitor the temperature inside our RV. You do not know when or if your A/C might take a poop! Or if there would be a power outage or interruption and the climate control doesn’t have the power to stay working. Having a way to remotely monitor the temperature when you travel with a pet is pretty important.
Even If You Don’t Have Pets – Monitor RV Temperature & Humidity!
Now before you quit reading and say to yourself, “well I don’t travel with pets, so this doesn’t apply to me.” Keep reading…
Having a temperature sensor to monitor both humidity and temperature in an RV is important for several reasons. Knowing humidity levels is critical for RVers. RV’s and mold have a history of a bad relationship, LOL.
We started using the GoVee Temperature sensor and one thing we love about this is that it not only monitors the temperature in the RV but also senses humidity levels. With condensation issues in RVs, this is a huge plus!
Bluetooth and Wifi Monitoring
This sensor uses Bluetooth to communicate with your phone but also uses wifi so you can monitor remotely with a cell phone via the app.
You can set alerts to send an alert if the temperature reaches a certain level.
Now, here is where this comes in handy for uses OTHER than pets!
Monitor the Temperature in the Fridge
Many know how finicky RV fridges can be. And if you have any issues with your fridge the last thing you want to do it open up the door and let the cold air out! You can place this little gadget in the fridge and monitor the temperature from the outside with your phone via Bluetooth.
THIS IS SO COOL because many people prefer NOT to use the propane mode when driving. However, you want to make sure your food is safe. Some newer fridges have a temp reading on the outside but many do not so you can remotely check your fridge temp with the GoVEE sensor.
You can use this sensor (or maybe pick up more than 1) to check the temperature of the room of the RV, the battery compartments, the food cupboards, and more. We are seeing so many potential uses for this gadget and for under $40 – the price is right!
Let us know in the comments below if you are using a temp and humidity sensor in your RV currently. Make sure to check out all our blog posts for RV living too!
