We love to hit the beach! And we’re pretty sure we’ve found the BEST beach in all of the state of Florida!
We relocated our home base from Colorado to Central Florida in 2020. We did this because we wanted to be able to travel YEAR round. In Florida, there is no snow, no freezing temps, and no need to winterize an RV.
Being in a warmer climate means being able to travel all winter long – and let’s not even talk about the awesome places in Florida to visit with over 900 natural springs in the state!
The beaches on the Atlantic side of the state are better for water sports like surfing, boogie boarding, etc. The beaches on the Gulf Side of the state have calmer waters and fewer large waves.
We’ve discovered the beach that most of the locals in the Central Florida area visit along the Atlantic side. This is where you can see many pro and semi-pro surfers shredding some waves and fishermen lining up and down the jetty to fish.
Ponce Inlet, Florida – Best Beach!
Very few people know about the beach at Ponce Inlet. Because the word “beach” isn’t in the location name, it’s lesser known. Most tourists who come to Florida search online for a beach to visit. And they see names pop up like Daytona or New Smyrna.
Where Ponce is located?
Ponce Inlet is located between the Daytona and New Smyrna beaches along the Atlantic coast. It’s right off the A1A highway just south of Daytona. Many people don’t realize there is a beach at Ponce Inlet.
There is always a ton of Ocean wildlife to be seen here at Ponce. Including dolphins, turtles, fish, pelicans, and more. We almost ALWAYS see sea turtles swimming along the jetty or pods of dolphins playing in the clear waters.
Where to Park
Depending on where in the Central Florida area you are staying, Ponce Inlet is about a 1-hour drive from the Orlando area. We recommend parking at Lighthouse Point Park where you will find showers, bathrooms, a picnic area, and more. It’s our favorite place to park to be able to shower and change after a great day at the beach. You can even take a tour of the lighthouse!
There is also a dog beach near the parking area where you can take your dog for a swim!
